Newbie Question

I need to be able to crunch down the physical size a video file for posting on "youtube".
Is this doable, and, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Windows Movie Maker just got its ass kicked!

Hey neat free video editing program! I just downloaded it today and wow, look at all the features it has that Windows Movie Maker hasn't!

(I've been using WMM for years. Why? Because WMM came for free and I am too poor to spend money on software.)

I can't figure out why this forum is so quiet, though. Is there an even better free video editing program that people are using now?

Also, why can't I start a new forum thread?

I have some questions.

With regard to output video dimensions.

Well the output video which is produced plays back at 320 x 240.

The input video files I used were both 640 x 480.
I have set "dims width 640 height 480"
I have set "maxwidth 640 maxheight 480"
I didn't press the "1/2" key.

So how come my output video is only 320 x 240 when I want the full 640 x 480?

I don't like to complain or anything because this is a neat program but the features list says

"Produce video with a resolution of 8x8 or 16000x16000 (~200 Megapixels / frame) and many sizes in between (custom) "

I think it started with a maxwidth of 720 and maxheight of 576 but editing that to suit made no difference.

I don't see how to create an output video of arbitrary dimensions. Is that possible on the Windows version of the program?

I don't know why it is choosing 320 x 240 - unless it is picking that up from the video output codec I select?

There seems to be about 26 or so codecs loaded in which you can select from but none of them specify explicity the output dimensions. From experience on WMM the lower kbps codecs tend to use smaller dimensions. However, even when I select the Windows Media Video 8 for Broadband (NTSC, 1400 kbps)
codec I still only get output video of dimensions 320 x 240.

Anyway, OK I am new to this program so the chances are I am failing to do something so if anyone can give me a pointer please?

I can be contacted by email at peterdow@talk21.com though I will keep a look out for a reply here.

Such a quiet forum for such a powerful piece of software. I can't figure out why?

Hey, I hope this program checks out because it really does kick Windows Movie Maker in the ass! lol

apprec any help on how to rotate video...thx in advance kahuna7945@gmail.com

Video tool

Windows Movie Maker is a good free DVD Maker tool. But i often use a shareware called Wondershare Movie Story, which is more powerful than Windows Movie Maker. Meanwhile I often use Wondershare Video to DVD Burner to burn any format video to DVD.
