Chroma Key Tutorial not working - verson 0.956

I'm having trouble with the Chroma Key tutorial.

I installed verson 0.956 on my Windows XP system.

As per tutorial instructions, I downloaded onmyplanet.avi provided in
http://www.zs4.net/files/keytut/onmyplanet.avi

I performed all the steps, to the letter, steps 1 through 6.

Instead of getting a black area where the green background use to be, I got just a solid-black MediaMixer image (left - top of ZS4 app.).

I had performed the simple chroma key tutorial (yellow flower) without any problems. It is the onmyplanet croma key tutorial that is not giving me the desired results. If I use other keying filters, they work, but the results are not as satisfactory as from using the yuv/chroma key effect.

I looked at the long video tutorial posted by one of the users, but it didn't shed any light on my current problem with the tutorial. Am I missing something, a support file maybe? Has anyone tested the OnMyPlanet Chroma key tutorial with version 0.956? Any help with getting me over this hurdle is appreciated.

Chroma Key still not working

I installed version 0.956 on my XP Pro machine at work and I got the same results with the solid black image. Why would this filter fail when it works with a single image such as the flower in the simple keying tutorial? Maybe it doesn't like movies, only stills. Silly, huh?

Chroma key still not working

You should try this next:
import the movie, open the f/x tab, go to video effects/pixel filters/keying filters, and drag "rgb similarity" onto the video track. Then if you need to adjust color and size do it in vars tab.

Chroma Key

I captured some green screen video into avidfree-DV saved it as an AVI file when I imported it into zs4 I suffered the same MediaMixer blackness.

I captured the same video into, please forgive me I was desperate, Windows movie maker, it worked.

I followed the same steps as the tutorial.

From what I can tell version 0.956 seems to be having Probs with certain AVI files.

RGB Similarity

I tried the RGB Similarity and it works, but even after playing with the variables, I couldn't get the on-my-planet guy in the video to be solid. If you turn on the checkered background, you can see that he's partially transparent. The yuv/chroma key filter is still the filter of choice (judging from how well it handled the flower picture), but as we all know here, it doesn't work with the tutorial avi. Perhaps the creator of the tutorial should consider testing the tutorial under Window XP with version 0.956. ZS4 programmer, are you reading this?

It would be nice if we can nail down the issue to say a defective filter, program, tutorial video or a particular flavor of AVI that ZS4 no longer likes.

Windows Movie Maker

I imported the onmyplanet video into Winows Movie Maker, then I saved it. After openening that file in ZS4 and running through the tutorial, I still got the MediaMixer blackness.

TrueBlue, would you please try what I did above and let me know if it worked for you.

If your keyed video is kind of transparent you need to play around with the output opacity in the vars tab of the video track.
